5 Minor Home Improvements That Add Value to Your Home

It’s normal to feel overwhelmed when you hear the words “home improvement.” Most likely, visions of a wrecking ball and a total overhaul of your home come to mind. But here’s the good news: there are many minor (and we mean minor!) home improvements you can do that will make a big difference in the value of your home.

1. Install new hardware on the front door: If your front door handle/knocker/door bell look outdated or tarnished, that will set the stage for the way a visitor will interpret your home’s value. Replace damaged door hardware with new, shiny, and elegant hardware for a quick and easy way to make your home seem newer and more elegant.

2. Clean the windows: It’s been said that the windows are the eyes of the home. And who doesn’t love a pair of bright eyes? Your home will immediately look newer, cleaner, and even bigger when all the windows are washed.

3. Update faucets: The faucets in your kitchen and bathroom have a big impact on the overall feel of the room. It’s important they are clean, updated, and stylish to add value to your home. They can easily be replaced and home improvement stores offer a huge variety of styles to get the perfect look for your home.

4. Power-wash your driveway and walkway: Just like washing your windows brightens up your home, power-washing your driveway and walkway will immediately give your home a facelift. It will look newer, cleaner, and well taken care of. And the good news is, it doesn’t take long to do and you can rent power-washers if you don’t want to buy one.

5. A fresh coat of paint: You might not always notice the paint in someone’s home, and that’s most likely because it is fresh and done nicely. However, you will notice when walls have chipped or faded paint and it greatly decreases the value and perception of one’s home.

As you’ve seen, there are many simple ways to make a big difference in your home’s value. You don’t need to spend copious amounts of time or money to make sure you get the absolute best value for your home if you’re looking to sell.
