5 Questions To Ask When Buying Your New Home

Buying your first home? Or maybe your 4th or 5th.  No matter which home this is for you buying a home is a psychological game of real estate poker, the stakes are high so don’t avoid inconvenient facts! Here are 5 questions you should ask when you find a home you are considering purchasing.

#1. Why is the owner selling?

Asking this question may give you additional information that is helpful in writing an offer. Sometimes the simplest questions can garner the most important information.

#2. Exactly what is included in the sale?

Is the garden shed included? What about all the fixtures and furnishings. Find out where exactly  the boundaries lie and if they would be considering including something to finalize the sale.

#3. How long did the previous owners live there?

If the previous owners lived in the home for a short period of time, its important to find out why.

#4. Would they live there?

Be direct and look carefully for their reaction. Their facial expression can tell you a lot, do they scrunch their face up and look awkward? If they do you have the answer, however if they say that they live nearby and like the area then thats a good sign.

#5. How much is property tax? and how much are the utility bills in the area?

If you can, try and get an exact figure. As an expense, they may seem small at first in comparison to the property, but they are reoccurring and you have to make sure its affordable in relation to your income.

Buying a home can be an exciting experience, make sure you ask all the questions you need prior to making an offer to their is no surprises when you move in!
