How To Make a New House Feel Like Home

Okay, so the hard part is done: You’ve found a new house you love and it’s all yours. But sometimes, it still won’t feel like it’s truly yours until you really make it “home.” Here are some simple tips for how to do so!

1. Complete your bathroom first- Since it’s generally the smallest room in your home, it will generally be one of the quickest to decorate and make yours! Once it’s done you’ll feel a great sense of accomplishment, and it will inspire you to finish the rest of your home.

2. Get some candles and fresh flowers- Your new home will often have the smell of fresh paint or new furniture. Get some candles in a familiar scent you love and it will start to feel like home in no time! And not only do candles smell great, they look lovely, too!

3. Hang pictures- Seeing familiar and loving faces around your home will bring you the feelings of happiness from when they were taken, and you’ll associate your new home with those feelings in return.
4. Spend time in your home, alone and with guests- You’ll make great memories in your home with friends during a dinner party or get-together. You’ll also begin to associate it as a peaceful place when you spend time relaxing in solitude in your home.
5. Find great bedding- When you find bedding that is cozy, welcoming, and just your style, you’ll love your bed, and then your room, and then your home! You can even add a favourite pillow or treasured blanket to remind you of your past!

These tips won’t break the bank, but they’ll make a big difference in turning your house into a home. Contact us today to help you find the perfect place to call home!
